Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about how CheckMy.Music works, what it can flag, and what happens to the music you upload.

What does CheckMy.Music do?
It produces a forensic musicologist report that assesses whether a composition is original or risks infringing existing works. Its core job is detecting potential plagiarism — and it works whether the music was written by a human or generated by AI. An AI-origin check is included as one of several signals.
My song was written 100% by a human. Can it still be flagged?
Yes — and that's exactly the point. Human compositions can unintentionally reproduce a melody, harmony, or hook from an existing work. CheckMy.Music is built to surface those similarities, no AI involvement required.
So this isn't just another "is it AI?" detector?
Correct. Detecting AI-generated audio is now commonplace. Our focus is the harder question — originality and potential plagiarism — with AI detection as one supporting layer, not the whole product.
Can it tell if a song was made with AI?
Yes, as one layer of the analysis. It estimates the probability that a track was AI-generated rather than returning a simple yes/no, since heavily processed or compressed audio can influence that signal.
How accurate is it?
Each track is examined through five complementary layers, which together produce a far more reliable picture than any single test. Still, all results are probabilistic indicators meant to support expert and legal judgment — not to act as definitive proof.
Is a report a legal determination of plagiarism?
No. A report is an analytical tool. It surfaces indicators and similarities to help musicologists, legal teams, and decision-makers do their work. Only a court or competent authority can make a legal determination.
Who is it for?
Music festivals and awards, advertising agencies, film studios, record labels and publishers, and digital distributors — anyone who needs to verify originality before music goes public.
What audio can I upload?
Common formats such as WAV and MP3 are supported.
What happens to the music I upload?
Your uploads are processed securely to run the analysis and generate your report, as described in our Privacy Policy. You keep the rights to your music — we don't claim ownership of what you submit.
Do you integrate with distribution platforms?
That's where we're headed. We envision an embedded originality check inside leading music distribution platforms — so a track can be verified before it's submitted to streaming services.
